Frequently asked questions:
How does a DogWatch Hidden Fence work?
A buried wire
carries harmless radio signals around a boundary that you
designate.

Your dogs wears a
small receiver on his collar that identifies the boundary and
warns him when he gets too close.
Will it hurt my dog?
Stimulation has been used in dog training for over 40 years.
The correction is
strong enough to reinforce your dog's good behavior, not to hurt
him.
Is it an electric fence?
The
system runs on radio signals. The transmitter emits a FM signal to
the receiver on the dog's collar, which then emits an audible
warning to warn your dog when he gets too close to the boundary;
followed by a mild correction, if he crosses into the designated
signal field.
Once the fence is installed can I just
let the dog out?
DogWatch
Hidden Fence Systems of Western Mass. recommends a 7 to 10 day
training process: twice a day, for a period of 15-20 minutes each.
The training
sessions combine both a visual field (flags marking the perimeter)
and using specific voice commands.
With proper training
your dog will remember the placement of the flags, and with your
positive reinforcement, he is easily taught to stay within his
perimeter.
Will the Hidden Fence work for more than one
dog?
Yes! There
is no limit to the number of dogs, and all receivers can be custom
set for each dog contained.
Is the Hidden Fence safe during a lightning
storm?
All DogWatch Hidden Fences
installed by DogWatch Hidden Fences of Western Mass., include
proper internal grounding and external surge protection to protect
against transmitter damage. However, your dog should be safe
indoors during any storm.
What's the difference between DogWatch
and other brands?
DogWatch Hidden Fences should not
be confused with Invisible Fence® or Invisible Fencing® which are
products and registered trademarks of Invisible Fence, Inc.

c onvenience features make DogWatch Hidden Fences the best

What is DM? Is this
important to me?
Digital modulation (DM) is a generic term. DM
is not a form of a signal. In the pet containment industry, all AM
and FM signals are DM; similar to what you would find in a car
radio.
Fences from Invisible Fence®, Pet Stop®, and
other brands all use forms of Amplitude Modulation (AM).
DogWatch is the only vendor in the pet containment industry with
Frequency Modulation (FM).
The differences between AM and FM are
substantial:
-
AM receivers are susceptible to interference
from other products such as computers, garage door openers, and
televisions.
-
FM signals are used by police, fire, and
aircraft equipment because the reception is much more immune to
interference.
DogWatch is the only manufacturer of Hidden
Fences with a patented FM radio signal.
FM is more secure and offers major safety
advantages for you and your pet.
And our most
frequently asked question:
Will the
fence work in the snow?
Yes!
The DogWatch Hidden Fence range is usually set to 6 feet,
property dependent, which radiates in all directions: above and
both sides of the boundary wire. Our exclusive user friendly
features on our transmitter allows you to adjust the signal field
in heavy snow accumulation, if necessary.
