If you’re a dog-owner, you know you’d never trade it for the world. But as much as you love your dog, there’s no denying that he or she can make things a little more difficult at times.

Case in point: looking for a place to go out to eat. If you’re out and about with your dog, finding somewhere to stop for a bite can be a headache.

With that in mind, we’ve compiled a short list of some of the best dog-friendly restaurants in the Western Massachusetts area.

Remember, restaurants change policies all the time, so be sure to phone ahead to confirm dog-friendliness before you head to any of these places with Rover in tow.

Coolidge Park Cafe at Hotel Northampton, Northampton

Part of the dining experience at the historic Hotel Northampton downtown, the Coolidge Park Café features a dog-friendly outdoor dining patio. It’s not likely that they’ll allow your pooch in the dining room, however, so plan your trip for a sunny day!

The Moan and Dove, Amherst

The Moan and Dove, a friendly neighborhood bar specializing in craft beers, doesn’t have food on the menu, and so it isn’t technically a restaurant. However, they do let you bring food in from any of the nearby takeout restaurants—and more importantly for us, they’re dog-friendly.

Multiple reviewers on Yelp note that the Moan and Dove allows well-behaved dogs inside. Says Yelp reviewer Stephanie, “it’s a place where you can bring your well behaved dog and it’ll lounge on the floor while ‘dove go-ers’ shower him with affection.”
